Hidden WWII Love Letters Inspired Tori Martin’s New Music Video, ‘Abilene’

Unique ‘Short Film’ Highlights The Creativity Of This Rising Country Star

Their story really stuck with me. The sweetness of their love, the heartbreak of war, the gravity of loss and the sense of ‘belonging’ that you feel in a place.”

— “Abilene” is Tori Martin’s fast-rising and currently #6 Texas Regional Radio Report single, and she is thrilled to have a ‘short film’ companion music video available now for her fans on her YouTube channel. The clip was co-directed by Jason Engelman and Director of Photography Justin Frech for LuckySky Music.

The video was filmed entirely in Abilene, Texas (the storybook capital of America) during a surprise February cold snap. Costumes are a key part of the visuals, as are the locations. Sites range from the charming Cedar Crest Cottage, inhabited by actors portraying both the 21st century characters (Theresa Rowley, Ricco Fajardo) and the 1940s couple (Cheyenne Haynes, Blake Blair), to the iconic Larry’s Better Burger Drive In. The settings are authentic and aid in the timeline transitions. Also featured are the historic Paramount Theatre and Texas & Pacific Railroad Depot, both scenes of enormous emotional impact for the protagonists. Throughout is powerful performance footage of Martin, alone in a high wind on a deserted section of highway.

The story behind the video reads like a fairy tale. It all began when Tori (in real life) discovered love letters long hidden in a rental house. After reading them, Martin was inspired to tell their story. “It really stuck with me. The sweetness of their love, the heartbreak of war, the gravity of loss and the sense of ‘belonging’ that you feel in a place.”

In 2022, Martin wrote the song with hitmakers Bill DiLuigi, Kirsti Manna and the song’s producer Bill Warner. “I was on a radio tour, and I remember saying to them, ‘I can’t stay in Abilene because the wind makes me crazy,’ and from there the ideas started flowing.” It’s an idea that has propelled the “Abilene” single on a trajectory that surpasses the singer’s first TRRR #1 from 2024, “Lost In The Country.”

“Texas radio in particular has been really good to me,” says Tori. She is nominated in the TRRR Awards “New Female Vocalist of the Year” category and will perform on the Awards show on March 24 in Arlington, TX.

Martin made the most of various press and TV opportunities during February’s Country Radio Seminar in Nashville. Recent media hits include The Pulse of Entertainment, Prime Time Podcast, Breakin’ Indies Country Countdown on Kickin’ Kountry 101, Terry Hudson’s rBeatz Radio, Nashville Insider, Dance Time in Texas, Coda Country, Country Evolution, and Nikki In Nashville. Tori is currently writing songs and recording for her next album.

Entertainer Tori Martin Rings In The Season With Jazzy New Single + Video, “Warm For December”

Nashville, TN (November 15, 2024) – Entertainer Tori Martin rings in the holiday season today with the release of a jazzy new single/video, “Warm For December,” for LuckySky Music. With her signature sultry vocal and a positive lover-to-lover message, this song is a celebration of emotion. Word play matches musical trills as a weeping steel guitar and evokes the comforts of a familiar touch backed by a slow-burning fire. In the video, a bare recording studio with a multitude of string lights allows the camera to focus solely on Martin, dressed in her 1940s cabaret singer-inspired best. “Overall, we wanted this to be low key with a throwback feel,” Tori recalls. “That inspired the video’s retro element as well. We wanted to create a smoky, late night jazz club vibe and I think we succeeded.”

Tori co-wrote the song with hitmakers Bill DiLuigi and Kirsti Manna. The track was produced by LuckySky Music’s Bill Warner and recorded at WarnerWorks Studio, and features top-notch Nashville talent, including Russ Pahl (steel guitar), Dane Bryant (bass, keys), Bill Warner (guitars), and Brian Czach on drums. Directed by Skyler Wilson, the video, a Retro Current Marketing production, was filmed in Ft. Worth, Texas in early October.

A self-confessed “festive enthusiast,” Martin notes, “I love getting into the spirit early and I hope this song brings listeners much cheer.”

Tori’s most recent single, the upbeat and fun “Lost In The Country,” is currently #2 and rising on the TRRR charts, and she is now on tour with break-out artist Drew Baldridge. Remaining dates on that tour include:

11/15 – West Chester Township, OH – Lori’s Roadhouse
11/17 – Syracuse, NY – The Song and Dance

Tori featured in Western Slope

Entertainer Tori Martin ditches the Big City in a big, white 1972 Cadillac and escapes to her rural roots in her latest music video, “Lost In The Country.” The clip was premiered last night via HEARTLAND TV Network.

The video follows the song’s storyline and features compelling imagery that begins with Tori’s ride (with her French Bulldog Lucky at her side) down a scarcely travelled two-lane country road. During the journey Martin’s pace slows and the tension unwinds as she is caught behind a pickup truck with a dog in the back (played by her own beloved Golden Retriever, Daisy), cattle by the roadside and pedestrians at the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. The turtle speed only encourages Tori’s animated singing, as she faithfully follows the road to a little white church where she shows some slick dance moves before trading vocal licks with a fiddler (Scarlett Deering) and a guitarist (her own band member, Austin Gardea). Cameo appearances feature Tori’s horse Butterscotch, gorgeous Texas sunsets and a campfire setting with friends.
